We are not replacing existing textile hygiene. We are committed to protecting health through improved textile hygiene — for bed linens and all textiles that cannot be washed.
THMS® aims to establish, for the first time, a scientifically sound and reproducible research and assessment process for the hygiene of textiles that are difficult or impossible to wash. The process begins with standardised sampling before the hygiene treatment. Following a scientifically rigorous laboratory analysis, the documented hygiene treatment is carried out.
Subsequently, post-treatment samples are taken under identical conditions and quantitatively compared with the initial values.
The results serve not only to objectively assess hygiene levels but also to advance the scientific development of testing methodologies and treatment procedures, as well as the evaluation and optimisation of effective hygiene products and concepts.
THMS® Int. e. V. is an independent non-profit research organization dedicated to investigating hygienic environmental factors in textiles and indoor environments and their relevance to human health.
Our work focuses on identifying microbiological and allergenic exposures in frequently used materials and living environments, analysing their potential health impact, and contributing to evidence-based prevention strategies.
The association operates exclusively for scientific and public benefit purposes and does not provide commercial hygiene services.
We conduct structured research projects to analyse real-world hygienic conditions in textiles and indoor environments.
Our studies are carried out in cooperation with scientific institutions, universities and specialized laboratories.
All findings are documented transparently and made available to the scientific community and the public.
Research results are intended to support prevention, risk assessment and health protection.
Our mission is to generate independent scientific knowledge that supports improved hygienic standards and long-term public health protection.
