How THMS® Mattress Sampling Works

Textile hygiene cannot always be assessed by visual inspection alone. This video demonstrates professional dust sampling from a mattress in a four-star hotel.

A clean specialist filter is inserted into the sampling device before the defined mattress surface is vacuumed in even passes. At THMS®, every individual sample is always collected for exactly 30 seconds. This standardised sampling time helps ensure that results are documented consistently and can be compared reliably.

The collected particles remain visible on the filter. However, visible deposits alone do not identify which allergens, microorganisms or other contaminants may be present. Depending on the purpose of the investigation, the sample can therefore be submitted for professional laboratory analysis.

The THMS® system combines standardised sampling, professional assessment, documented basic hygiene and quality control. Our aim is to identify potential hygiene risks at an early stage, make hygiene measures verifiable and strengthen infection prevention and health protection in hospitality businesses.
